Travel Maps: Why Online Maps Are Handy

Some people may ask, “Why should I use a map?” There are other ways of finding out how to get to where I am going such as using directions given by someone else.

Maps are handy to have available even if directions are available. The reason for this is that often time’s directions include phrases such as “turn at the big blue building.” If that building has been torn down, or if the person following the directions took a wrong turn somewhere else along the way, they will not be able to find the “big blue building” and will be completely lost. With a map, it is possible to find out where you are, and how to get back on course to find your destination.

One reason is because of the amount of time people spend on the internet on a daily basis, they are already online so finding a map does not take up too much extra time. It is very easy to quickly get a map while working online. These maps are also very convenient because a person does not have to take the time to go to the more traditional places of obtaining such as at a travel agency, travel and tourism office or even a store. These maps can also be a cost saver since a person does not generally have to pay for them or the other services the online provider offers. This makes traveling last minute much easier for people, which happens quite often.

Maps are also helpful in deciding the best course to take. What travel plan may be good for one person may not be the best option for another; therefore, each person should have the opportunity to chart their own travel course by the use of maps.

Some maps are very detailed and may take a person awhile to really understand everything that is on the map, which is why studying the map prior to traveling is a good idea. That way, sites rest stops or other places of interest will not be missed.

Maps are also helpful in determining how long it takes to get from one point to the next as mileage can easily be calculated. Along with finding out how long a trip will take, maps are also useful for finding the best route based on the travelers particular needs and desires while traveling. Some may want the quickest way possible; others may prefer the more scenic route.

However, just like all things, they are not perfect. The savvy traveler will take the time to compare online maps with traditional maps. Comparing the two types of maps will help the traveler find out which one is best for him or her based on the particular needs of the individual. Online maps will provide details that other maps may not. However, the same is true for traditional maps, which will show things that the online map will not.

Traveling, whether for business or pleasure is something that takes time to plan, even if it is a last minute trip. The use of online maps certainly makes the task of preparing for trips a little less time consuming, making more time for other preparations needed for travel, making the whole experience a little more enjoyable.

Keeping Your Valuables While Traveling

Traveling, be it just across state or to another country is always a great experience. To help people enjoy it rather than having an untoward incident such as losing ones passport or other items such as luggage, it is best to be prepared to avoid such things from happening.

An essential item for any passenger traveling is the passport. This, aside from cash and the tickets must be nearby at all times preferably in a small handbag or purse for easy accessibility. If it is possible, one should memorize the passport number just in case for some reason it gets lost.

There is a high probability that when one travels, one usually uses the same bag for various trips. It is best to remove all the old destination tags and just have the new destination tag attached to avoid confusion. Also, for personal protection, one must have a lock and key for the bag and have it labeled both inside and outside the bag to avoid having another traveler from getting the luggage by mistake.

Depending on the length of the trip, one should just bring enough bags that one can carry. If the trip will take a few days or longer, choose a more appropriate bag to bring along. Taking such precautions will make the person feel comfortable and not helpless or immobilized when one is also not certain where the taxi stand or the bus stop is located.

While traveling, one should be careful of the surroundings. One should never let a stranger look after the luggage because it is possible that they will put something in it or even steal it.

During the trip, one should choose a hotel located on a well-traveled street. Usually, the more expensive the hotel, the better the security. The first thing to do when entering a hotel room is to check the windows, sliding doors and connecting rooms if there are any and make sure it is secure.

Most hotels have a small vault in the room and safety deposit box, which is complimentary. When leaving the hotel, it is also advisable to leave the room key in the lobby and just claim it when entering the hotel room.

Do not answer the hotel room door before verifying who it is. If someone claims to be a hotel employee and one does not recall making any request from the help desk, it is best to call the front desk person first to verify.

Most importantly, make sure the hotel room door is locked at all times./pbr

3 Steps to Meeting Latin Girls While Traveling Alone to Latin America

Traveling alone doesnt have to be a bad thing. Many times, us globe trekkers have to venture out on our own without any friends or company. The good news is that were probably not going to be alone for long. There are ways to make the whole experience more enjoyable by meeting Latin women and making friends before you get to your final destination and also along the way… These are some of the tactics I use to make every solo expedition a fun one.

STEP 1: Meet some Latin girls online before you get on the plane. This is a must do, especially for those shy guys out there. If you dont think youll be able to approach those sexy latin girls on the streets or in clubs when you travel, you have to do the dirty work on the Internet before you get there. The good news is that its really easy, especially when youre trying to meet Latin women, because their very open, friendly and flirtatious. So get on the Internet start chatting with some Latin beauties and start building some trust and friendships. After a few weeks of chatting on a regular basis, youll see that these girls will warm up to you greatly.

Ill give you one example. I was headed for Barranquilla, Colombia, and on this particular trip, I was going to head down on my own. I started sending out emails to the Latin girls of Barranquilla a month before I got to Barranquilla. By the time the final day of travel arrived, I had already made about 15 new girl friends in that city. I have all of their email addresses and out of those 15, Ive chatted consistently with about five of them, and I have those five girls phone numbers. Two of them offered to pick me up at the airport; I opted for the one that I felt the most chemistry with. So when I got to Barranquilla I had this beautiful Latin girl, waiting there to give me a warm welcome! The moral of this story is that you need to get your butt online.

STEP 2: Try to meet some Latin girls on the plane, and in the airport. One of the best places to make friends and meet people, both men and women, is on the plane ride over. Plane rides are long and boring, and its the perfect place to start up a conversation with a stranger. A simple where are you headed?, can start up a conversation that could last the entire flight. Ive met many girls on the airplane and at airport gates while waiting for my flight. Airports are full of foreigners and its a great place to meet some foreign girls.

Step 3: Approach and make friends! If you havent done step 1 and 2, then youre last and only choice is step three. Some good people to befriend are taxi drivers, hotel personnel, waitresses, and cashiers. This approach is probably the toughest out of all three, and one of the main reasons is because of the time limitations you will most likely have on your trip. Once you meet a Latin girl in town, its going to take some time to build some trust, and if the girl works or goes to school you might not have enough time to make something happen. The benefit of meeting women online before you get there is that you will already have a certain amount of trust with the girl when you finally meet in person.

Approaching people on the streets is not easy for everyone but look at this way, if youre in a foreign land surrounded by attractive latin women, theres no better motivation to approach.

But heres a tip that will work in just about any location you travel too. If you see someone interesting, just ask them a question about the city. Some questions can be:

1. Do you know a good place to eat?
2. Do you know a good place to get a drink?
3. Can you tell me how to get to so and so?

After you ask your question, you can add. The reason I ask, is because Im not from here, Im visiting.

Gauge the response. If your new female friend asks you where youre from, then you are in. This single question is an indication that shes interested in knowing more about you. Even if she doesnt come out and ask you right away, dont bail out too quickly. Stay in and see if you can peek her interest. Ive found this approach to work wonders in just about any venue while I travel.

Remember, you dont have to be alone for the entire trip, most likely the only place youll be alone is on the ride the airport when youre leaving because after that, its time to meet the women you met online and make more friends on the plane.

Have a safe trip,

Never be caught unprepared during a trip. Plan ahead and stuff your bag with essentials things you need. The better prepared you are, the more fun you will have on the trip. Here’s a checklist of what should be inside your traveler’s kit.

*Medicine Kit
Never assume that no mishaps will happen on a trip. Even minor bruises should be taken care of. Always keep your first- aid kit handy.

Treating wounds
Bring along a roll of bandage, safety pins and scissors. Tweezers might be needed to pull out foreign materials that penetrate the skin. Bring ointments and alcohols for treating abrasions. If you are prone to allergies and itching, antihistamine medications like Benadryl should be handy.

Common medicine
Carry along medicines that you are likely to use, like aspirin for headaches, laxative for proper bowel movement and pain relievers. If you have a runny nose, buy a couple of decongestant. Dehydration and motion sickness is common when traveling, consult your doctor on which medicine is appropriate for you.

Prescription drugs
Remember to bring along whatever medication you are taking. Bring enough supply to last for the entire trip.

*Personal Hygiene Kit
This kit must include all your toiletries. This will keep you looking fresh all the time.

Dental
Bring along your toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. Buy a small bottled mouthwash or if you have plenty of supply left, just transfer it to a smaller container.

Personal effects

Bathroom needs
Bring along with you sets of toilet papers, soaps, towels and washcloth.

*Emergency Kit
This includes the stuff you might need like flashlights, lighters, pocket knife and duct tapes. Mobile phones are important in case of emergency, be sure to bring your charger and an extra battery.

*Leisure Kit
For added fun, you can bring along your travel journal, reading materials and the locale’s language book. Make the most out of fantastic views with your binoculars and your camera.

There is no such thing as a standard traveler’s kit. It varies upon the place and the activities you’ll do in a certain place. The above kits are basically the essentials. Be sure to keep everything checked and have a fun trip ahead!
