Travel insurance before leaving on holiday outside the UK should be an easy task. But how to ensure you receive a good deal? There are two main ways to do it. The first is to always shop around. Prices vary considerably between insurers and their personal circumstances can make a big difference to politics. The second is to wonder how many times you intend to travel in one year. If you are sure to travel only once, cheap travel insurance can quite easily be in the form of a single trip policy for as little as ? 9. If you travel twice or more then this could be costly, especially for families. This is where a multi-trip policy will come to your rescue. Many family policies are not limited to the adult couple, but several children. Can be found for as little as ? 23 for a single person and let you make several trips abroad during the year. As you can imagine, if you intend to travel abroad three times a year and pay ? 9 each time, while a multi-trip comes in at around ? 23 per person, you just saved ? 4. This may sound like a small saving, but as you start to increase the number of trips per year and the number of people traveling in a policy, the savings you make on your travel insurance is much larger. However, there is a crucial point to remember. Although we all like to find cheaper travel insurance before going abroad, we must not lose sight of the reasons for the purchase of the deck in the first place. It may be easy to find just the cheapest policy in an effort to save money, but the reality is that you could be missing out on vital aspects of coverage. For example, you must remember to check a possible policy of travel insurance to ensure that all the features you need are covered. You should look to have coverage in the following areas: cancellation, emergency medical, baggage, theft and personal liability. You should seek medical coverage to the value of ? 1 million in transport in Europe and ? 2 million in the U.S.. Hospital bills can rise very rapidly and it is not unknown to tourists who literally broke. Of course, some of these options may be retired from politics if they are not needed, such as baggage and cancellation cover, but I suggest you think carefully about this beforehand. A tip worth remembering is that some home insurance policies also provide coverage for personal items that are removed from the house. In turn, this means you may be able to do without the same coverage on your travel insurance policy, so it is slightly cheaper – but check your home and content of the terms and conditions first. Finally, remember that all insurers based on the coverage they offer what is called "good faith". This means that for them to pay on a claim that must be satisfied that you are completely honest with them when you took the policy. The two key areas that this applies to previous medical conditions, which must be declared at the outset, or the insurer may not pay. Also, do not fall into the temptation of an excess demand for a loss: the addition of an MP3 player or iPod to the demand could have his political vacuum. To recapitulate the main points: shop around to find the best prices, select a type of policy according to the frequency of travel, be sure to have the level of coverage needed and last but not least, remember to be honest with all the details given.
